South Mountain Park/Preserve in Phoenix, Arizona is one of the largest municipally managed parks in the nation and consists of three mountain ranges. The park boasts more than 51 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. On a visit in late March I discovered that these mountain flowers were in full spring bloom, including the yellow-flowered brittlebush and the wild heliotrope.
