This snowy white egret is standing in the shallow waters of the marshes at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge in northwest Florida. This national park is home to a wide variety of birds and other wildlife.

The snowy white egret is a small, compact bird. It is smaller than the great white heron which also lives at this nature preserve. The snowy white egret has black legs and bright yellow feet. This egret has some wispy white feathers on its chest. This is breeding plumage.
