I went to March Valley Road in Kanata, Ontario to see if I could spot my Great Gray Owls, and I ran into a couple of other birders who asked me if I wanted to go and see a Northern Hawk Owl.... I followed them in my car to another location to see if we could spot it�.Well, happy to say I did!! Another Lifer for me. I was too thrilled for words! In this photo I caught him mid-scratch...and it looked as if he was smiling and waving!
The Northern Hawk-Owl, or Northern Hawk Owl in North America, is a non-migratory owl that usually stays within its breeding range, though it sometimes irrupts southward. It is one of the few owls that is not nocturnal or crepuscular.
