Description
SLOTH CURIOSITY by KAREN WILES
http://karen-wiles.pixels.com
A grasping Hoffman's Two Toed sloth moves slowly through the beautiful rainforests of Costa Rica. He is most intrigued upon finding my big eyed lens focusing in on his gentle personality. This particular sloth has two toes on the front feet and three toes on the back which better enables him to hang upside down from branches during their many daily naps. Sloths have the slowest digestive system of any mammal. It can take them as long as two weeks to digest one meal. So sloths have evolved to do less rather than to eat more. They sometimes spend up to 20 hours a day sleeping to conserve their energy, which is only one more reason they are so hard to find visually.
