Skates And Bikes

Skates And Bikes.
I was shooting an assignment for one of my photography classes recently and we were to shoot the old time architecture in Locke California.
Locke is a small town out on the Sacramento River Delta that was home to Chinese immigrants as they helped build the railroads of the wild west.
One of the charms of Locke is that it's almost as if time stood still.
While walking the town, all 8 blocks of it, I came across an old wooden porch that had a number of curiosities making their home there.
These old roller skates caught my eye almost immediately. For those in my age bracket you will probably remember having some skates like these. For those not old enough, these skates were one size fit all as the two end slid together or apart depending on how you needed to adjust them. the final setting was adjusted with a key that locked the two halfs in place. The steel wheels were an extra treat that probably left many a kid with skinned knees.
