Ecuador is home to so many hummingbirds including the shining sunbeam or copper-winged hummingbird! Most hummingbirds tend to have a lot of green in their plumage but the shining sunbeam is mostly copper-colored. It is indigenous to tropical regions, more specifically Ecuador, Peru, and Columbia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist high-altitude forest and subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland. This one was photographed at approximately 11,500’ in the Ecuadorian Andes.
