Description
U.S. Highway 70 runs right through Organ, New Mexico, which is on a list of "Ghost Towns" in the state. This old, burned-out, rundown, abandoned, dilapidated Garage, as well as a few other buildings of the same ilk will support that classification.
Having said that, there is a Mobile Home Park across the highway, as well as a non-descript Thai restaurant. There are also a number of more modern inhabited homes scattered around the immediate area, and Organ even has a Post Office.
Pat Garrett (yes, THAT Pat Garrett) had a ranch a little bit east and north of Organ and he did some of his trading here. He was even murdered about 6 or 7 miles west of town while on his way to Las Cruces.
"Ghost Town"? Well...it's complicated.

Great find Steve...This reminds me of a place from my youth that was a garage and cafe....Stahlnecker's Garage And Cafe in the little town of Colton Oregon.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS!
