Sometimes
I look in the mirror
and the woman staring back at me
is so serious...
so consumed with criticism:
Her face has begun to sag...
her hair is too "natural"...
her lips are way too big
and her eyes are always swollen.
Sometimes
I look in the mirror
and I muster the courage
to speak to this woman...
I say,
"*Seriously*,
are you really so ungrateful
that all you have to do
is stand there criticizing your appearance?
*Go do some ART*
and get over
those things
that come with
the gift of living
past age 50!"
