The Royal Birkdale Golf Course has been voted No1 in Britain and is the venue for The Open in 2017. The course is located in the stunning coastal resort of Southport. So far it has hosted the men,s championship 9 times. It hosted the women's tournament for a sixth time in 2014, and was the site of the Senior Open Championship in 2013. Royal Birkdale has also hosted the Ryder Cup (1965, 1969), the Walker Cup (1951), and the Curtis Cup (1948)
The players are just passing the bunker located approx 55 yards from the front of the 18th green. This slightly elevated viewpoint enables a good portion of the clubhouse to be seen together with the distant town. Hopefully the viewer is drawn to the players and then follows their movement towards the green.
