Rockne Memorial Game
Photograph - Color Photo
Art based on a vintage ticket to Notre Dame's Knute Rockne memorial game in 1931. Rockne was tragically killed in a plane crash earlier that year. He led Notre Dame to 4 national titles during his 13 years as its coach. He was famed for coaching his players towards both victory and morality and was a beloved moral philosopher at the start of the Great Depression. Despite his Norwegian immigrant origins, he was regarded as the "All-American" icon of virtuous strength and honorable success.
