Description
For many, seeing the Rockefeller's Boat House on Little Long Pond is so exciting. I get excited seeing it each time we walk around Little Long Pond in Acadia National Park. People come here to take a rest on the bench beside Little Long Pond and to have a swim in the lake itself! Our dog, Sophie, was very happy to partake of a swim next to this iconic building. The house is built over the lake and when we peered into the windows, we could see some kayaks resting inside waiting for a member of the Rockefeller family to come take them out for a paddle. I love everything about this beautifully designed building. The porch is iconic and home to many spiders! The detail in the porch rail and overhead roof is reminiscent of days gone by. Everyone here treats the building with the utmost respect and civility. People, or most people, cleanup after their dogs so that others might enjoy the tradition of looking out for each other in Acadia National Park.
