Several years ago when my husband and I were traveling to Rochester, Minnesota, we came across this old Victorian styled house. The house that we saw was barren. It had no trees around the house; it was sitting on the edge of a field that hadn't been worked for years. There was nothing to attract you to the house. And yet, I found it fascinating. So a few years later, when I had more time, I got out my paint brushes and began to picture this house as it might have been. I added almost every flower I could think of, I painted it kind of tannish, and I "repaired" the mansard roof. I added trees, green grass, and a stone walkway. More than likely I overdid it but I certainly had fun.
