Rhapsody Of Roses
Painting - Oil On Canvas
A cascade of flowers creates a visual rhapsody of music .
For many, roses remain the – forgive the pun – perennial favorite of all flowers, and a still life consisting of nothing more than a simple vase, filled to overflowing with the rich, luscious petals of a flower that many consider to be the flower of love – is the perfect statement of art for the bedroom.
Rhapsody of Roses celebrates the form, the color, the emotion, the sheer beauty of one of the world’s most beautiful flowers, and though the flowers themselves do not audibly sing, they create their own song just by virtue of their very existence, shape, form, and texture.
So many roses are there in the painting that they cannot possibly fit in the vase, and a selection of blooms lies to the side, unable to fit into the container, but not destined to be tossed in the trash heap. Each rose, every rose, is unique in itself, and though the collection of them creates a sense of unity and form, the viewer can pick out each bloom independently from the others, and marvel at its grace of form.
Even the colors do not match, and there is a panoply of pinks, corals, whites, creams, and gentle yellows, all of which join together into one, and yet maintain their individuality at the same time.
In some ways, is not humanity itself a rhapsody of roses, a compendium of human beings who –when working together in harmony – create a song of beauty that is an inspiration to hear? And yet at the same time, each beautiful human being is as each perfect rose – unique, unusual, one of a kind, able to stand on its own or within a group of others, offering to the world the beauty of his or her skills, dreams, hopes, and accomplishments.
