A2 Charcoal and Conte drawing of a woman in a resting pose. Not sure at the present time whether this is the final drawing as whilst Im reasonably happy with the pose, marks and the figure shading, I feel somewhat dissatisfied with the background, which didn’t seem to solidify when I was doing the drawing!
Im still interested in capturing the energy of the stroke with the marks I make - but am also getting interested in how both the shading and light can bleed into the subjects, giving form.
This version was worked up from a quick life drawing sketch - the smudging done with fingers, kitchen towel and a cardboard stick. Drawn with charcoal and compressed charcoal onto Daler Rowney Fine Grain Heavyweight 200gsm paper.
