This is the first of several images of Nell Gwyn, or rather my interpretation of her. She was a 17th century courtesan of King Charles II of England. She rose from poverty to become an accomplished actress and the King's favourite pastime. As a youngster she became well known for selling oranges to theatre patrons.
I have used both oil painting and sketch-type depictions, both in style at that time.
