Description
All temples and shrines in Japan have small fountains with ladles perched on top used for purification with water before going inside the Temple or Shrine. And each seems to have its own design. This is the purification trough at the Meiji Shrine in Tokyo. The ritual consists of washing the left hand, the right hand, mouth, and lastly the handle of the water ladle.
