Description
When I first saw this bird I was in a small boat, fishing among the mangroves. Paddling very slowly I managed to get within 15 feet of the egret without arousing it's attention. I slowly put down my paddle and reached for my camera. This is the result of that special encounter. The tangled mangrove roots were in full shadow, hence the black background Taken in the mangrove forest less than 100 yards from my home. Hudson ,Florida. The Sunshine State
