Plaza de Toros - Malaga, Spain.
No visit to Malaga seems complete without a stroll around La Malagueta; the famous Andalusian bullring, or Plaza de Toros, located on Paseo de Reding.
Now considered a cultural asset of Spain, bullfighting was first held here back in 1876.
Even though animal rights groups and Pacma supporters want to abolish the 'bloodsport' I still remember sitting in the sunny seats as a child, looking at the emotion on the faces of cheering Spanish bullfighting aficionados.
La Malagueta was under refurbishment when we visited in April, 2019 but I still managed to poke my camera lens through some protective netting to grab a nostalgic frame of poster remnants advertising the previous season's corridas during the Malaga City Fair, or Feria de Agosto.
While one can really appreciate the size of the arena at ground level, the best view of the sixteen-sided brick and plaster bullring itself is probably from above, at Castillo de Gibralfaro.
