Title
Pinhole Pine Glades Lake - 1- Everglades
Artist
Rudy Umans
Medium
Photograph - Fine Art Photograph
Description
Beautiful lake view landscape in the Florida Everglades National Park. This image was captured on black and white film with a 4" x 5" (negative size) large format Pinhole Camera. A pinhole camera is basically just a box with a tiny hole and a place to put the film. No lens, no electronics, no viewfinder. Just a box and the photographer.
The Everglades National Park is a subtle place where earth, water, and sky blend in a low green landscape; where mere inches of elevation produce distinct changes in vegetation; and where a great wealth of birds and other wildlife find refuge. For this is almost exclusively a biological park dedicated to the preservation of a complex and precisely ordered living mechanism. It lies at the interface between temperate and sub-tropical America, giving a rich diversity of species, many at the limit of their ranges.
With its special significance to the Nation and the world recognized by making the Everglades a National Park, an International Biosphere Reserve, a World Heritage Site, and a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance, its preservation for the benefit of present and future generations is better assured.

How long was your exposure? Guessing by the wind blowing, I'd say around 15-20 seconds? Good shot btw. Calvin, the admin for the group "Tree or Trees In B&W" recommended that I check out your work. You ever shoot any infrared with pin hole cameras?

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
