Description
Peter Gabriel, a self-titled album, the third solo album by the English rock musician. It was produced by Stephen Lillywhite, a six time Grammy winner. Released 30 May 1980, it has received critical acclaim and is considered his “breakthrough album”. In the US the album was released as Peter Gabriel III and due to the cover photo is also referred to as the Melt album.
The album contained songs that become “signature” for his legacy. These include “Biko” an anti-apartheid protest song and “Games Without Frontiers” an anti-war song. Other songs that punctuate his talent and career include “ I Don’t Remember”, “Family Snap Shot”, “Salsbury Hill”, “Sledgehammer”, “Shaking the Tree”, “Don’t Give Up”, a personal favorite of mine, “Red Rain”, “Shock the Monkey”, and “Big Time”.
As a fan, I have to include attending his stage show in 1993 at the old McNichols arena in Denver as the most extraordinary staging I have ever experienced at a rock music concert.
