My husband and I went to a friends garden the other day. The peonies she had displayed for sale there had almost stopped blooming for the year but there were several blossoms hanging on the plants. What made this day special for me as a photographer was the timing. It was almost 7:00 pm in June and the sun was reaching her gardens through the trees. What made it different was the lighting. In some peonies the light from the sun was obvious, in others it created various colors on the flowers not usual to peonies, and it also created glorious shading.
