Description
This painted turtle was seen sunning on a rock by a pond in the summer. Painted turtles have a smooth upper shell with red spots on its edge. Their skin is marked by yellow and red stripes, especially on their head and neck. The painted turtle is the most widespread turtle species in Canada and the United States. Unfortunately, its numbers are of special concern on the west coast. This painted turtle was photographed in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
