Once A Freighter Now A Breakwater

A hazy summer day on the Toronto waterfront with a former, now heavily corroded, Great Lakes bulk Freighter, “Str Ridgetown” in the foreground. Built in Chicago in 1905, the ship was de-commisioned in 1969 and eventually loaded with stones and sunk as a breakwater at the entrance to Port Credit Harbour, on the north shore of Lake Ontario, just west of Toronto.
