Description
On a rainy Saturday in August, I headed out on a three-hour round trip drive to Nenana, Alaska. My goal was twofold. I wanted to pick vegetables at a local farm, and I wanted to visit two small cemeteries in the area. Once, the cemeteries were segregated, and this was the white cemetery. It is now called Nenana Cemetery South. The former Native cemetery is now known as Nenana Cemetery North.
Nenana was hard hit by the Spanish Flu in 1920, with 60 deaths among the 200 or so residents. This is one of those graves. While some may think this site looks neglected, I quite like the natural setting.
