Anyone who knows anything about the falls would know about our infamous barge.
This old barge landed in the shallow rapids above the falls way back in 1918. There were a couple of men on it at the time and they were rescued, which was no easy feat back in those days. I don't think the rapids were so shallow back then but even shallow there is a very strong current, as you can imagine.
Anyways the barge has sat in it's place here ever since. I think it has shifted now and then and as you can see it has rusted and rotted as the water constantly thunders into and through it but it has not budged till 2o19 when it moved quite aq bit further downstream as it turned over onto it's side. I am sure one day it will be gone from the river all together but that day woin't come for a very very long time.
This picture was taken in 2018, a year before the shift. Here you can see it upright and relatively intact.
