Description
The Neotropic Cormorant (Phalacrocorax brasilianus) is widely spread throughout the western hemisphere. In Arizona, they mostly stop by for the winter months as they are migratory birds, but a small population has recently decided to stay year round. Is this a sign of climate change? It's very possible. It has certainly had an impact on the local ecosystem.
This one was seen drying its wings near the lake at Freestone Park in Gilbert, Arizona on a hot summer day.
