Description
Humans aren't the clever ones to come up with hybrid this and hybrid that ~ as you can see here, nature came up with it first! This hybrid bird is a cross between a Mallard Duck and a Red crested Pochard. To find another species crossed with a Mallard isn't that uncommon. This is because the Mallard ducks are considered to be 'aggressive breeders'; a description I can bear testament to, having watched it first hand. Despite the technicalities of it all, the result is beautiful iridescent head feathers and a typical duck shaped frame. I always find these captivating.
