Description
Mylor Chapel celebrated its bi-centenary in 1992 and is still well supported. The adjacent primary school uses the refurbished chapel school room for the pre-school children.
Before the Mylor Methodist Church was built at the top of Lemon Hill in 1836 there was a Wesleyan Society building on the site although nothing is known of this earlier property.
John Wesley first visited Cornwall in 1743 and proceeded to visit a further thirty two times before his death in 1791. Cornwall took to Methodism like no other county in England and John Wesley's practice of preaching outdoors and in barns and cottages suited the rural population.
