A male Muskovy Duck hanging out at a local lake here in Florida. A controversial species of duck in Florida the Muskovy is non-native and considered a nuisance by the State and a threat to the native wildlife. They were illegally released years ago primarily as pets and have established wild populations throughout the state.
Many residents enjoy these friendly birds, but not all, creating the conflict. The Muskovy Duck is native to Mexico, Central and South America.
