Description
MOTHER
We are born
to her
and of her
The Mother.
We suckle at her breast,
her plump nipple
echoed
in tiny seashells
and infinite galaxies.
Embraced and nurtured
we grow.
Until,
having sucked her dry
we turn from her,
She who has given us life,
oblivious to her last, small
milky-white tear.

"...and infinite Galaxies ! " The spiral design on the big shell does indeed hint, and point at the majestic spiral galaxies in our vast Universe - and giving us a glue at the Connection of All that exists. :-)

Ahh, Sandi! You have done it again! This is such a lovely image standing on its own.....but combined with your beautiful poetry....the combination is ethereal! I read Colleen's words to you and I felt that I had written them too (although mine wouldn't have been so well written!") We just celebrated my mother-in-laws life two days ago....I couldn't have read this on a more perfect day. . . . . . thank you! . . . fv
