Description
I was at Washoe Lake, NV photographing wild horses. As I hike through the bushes, I saw this beautiful monarch butterfly amid the wildflowers. I put my tripod down and focus on the monarch. It was so close that I had to move back a bit to accommodate the minimum focusing distance. As it flew off for the next flower, I took this shot. It is as clear as it could ever get, you can see the texture of it's wings and body completely visible. Indeed, a rear shot of a monarch butterfly.
