Title
Mona Lisa After Leonardo Da Vinci
Artist
Margot Stinton
Medium
Drawing - Graphite Pencil On Paper
Description
Mona Lisa is a head and shoulder portrait made with Graphite pencils, on Arches hot press 300g/m2. All hanging hardware is included. The physical texture is smooth. The artwork was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. I was interested in how Leonardo reflects the idea of connecting humanity with nature. He created an overhaul harmony in the painting, especially in the smile. I wanted to see if I could create that feeling of calm, mysterious inaccessibility of that enigmatic smile and sensuous curves in her hair and clothing, using the contrast of light and dark of a pencil.
