The silence of a misty morning in Cataloochee Valley, Great Smoky Mountains National Park is broken by the haunting bugle of a mature bull elk.
Wildlife photography to me is so much more than capturing the image. Wildlife photography is about "being there" and being a part of the moment, witnessing nature firsthand. This photograph was captured on what turned out to be a very special day and shows only a frozen instant in time. If you have heard the amazing sound of an elk bugle, perhaps you can imagine this misty morning being pierced by that sound. Nature has always amazed me and this moment gave me goosebumps! It was the perfect moment in the perfect setting and that was heightened by the fact that these magestic animals have been returned here to Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the reintroduction program has been a success.
