Michigan winter sunrises can take your breath away in many ways. Besides the bitter cold, although nature sleeps, Jack Frost shows up and forms the most delightful ice patterns on our windows. As the pastel hues of a morning sunrise provided me with the perfect backdrop on my garage door, I captured the handwriting of Jack himself in all its glory.
It's never the same. And no one really knows what he writes or what it says. It's code. Only understood by Mother Nature herself. But we are allowed to witness the spectacle if we only take a moment to catch a glimpse before the sun's light melts the messages away.

Thank you, Jill, for this artistic capture! I used to remember LOVING the frosted art at my grandmother’s home...who knew those beautiful ice “paintings” occurred because the windows were so old and drafty? I thought they were THE COOLEST things! Thanks for the warm memories!
