Description
In this outdoor color landscape photograph, a distant tourist explores Alaska’s Mendenhall Glacier, located in Mendenhall Valley, about 12 miles from downtown Juneau, Alaska, in the southeast area of the U.S. state of Alaska. This glacier is about 13.6 miles long and was one stop on our White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad Tour, an option we chose as part of our Princess cruisetour in August and September 2015.
A stop at the Mendenhall Glacier includes the visitor’s center, hiking, and a waterfall. Unlike many glaciers in Alaska that are advancing, Mendenhall Glacier is considered a receding glacier. Global warming alarmists might have us believe that all glaciers are receding, but some are advancing. We learned of one that is advancing so rapidly and dangerously that it is threatening to wipe out an entire fishing village.
You will find another view of Mendenhall Glacier in this Gallery. The other choice does not include a person, and shows a little more sky and slightly less shoreline.
