Description
Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy by the Who is a compilation album of singles (1962-1970) that was released in November of 1971 on Deca Records DL 79184 in the US. I peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Chart and in 1987 Rolling stone raked it number 99 on their list of 100 Best Albums of the period 1967-1987.
The album is named after the members of the band. “Meaty” is Daltrey, who was quite fit at the time; “Beaty” is Moon, for his drumming; “Big” is Entwistle, who was a large person, often referred to as “The OX” and “Bouncy” was Townshend, who jumped about quite acrobatically during performances.
The album includes hits like: “I Can See for Miles”; “My Generation”; “Pinball Wizard”; “Magic Bus” and “Substitute”. Fourteen songs made the album 43:20 minutes long.
