Mama Great Horned Owl with One Visible Owlet
The first day I visited the owl, only one of the owlets was visible. Others there said they thought there were two. I waited until finally the baby turned its head at the same time the mother was facing in my direction, (versus keeping a watch to the other side of the tree). I revisited two days later and discovered there were actually three owlets. Last year I had come around this time, but the owlets then (also three) were already in the climbing stage, so it was fun to see them this size. I saw another triplet of Great Horned owls at the headquarters of Malheur NWR (each owlet in its own tree with Mama nearb y the smallest of them).

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
