This serene waterscape featuring Lake Bennett, located on the Chilkoot Trail in Yukon Territory and British Columbia, Canada, delights the eye with lush evergreens and snow-capped peaks beneath white clouds and a blue sky. With the pristine, shimmering waters of Lake Bennett front-and-center, the rocky shoreline and vegetation in the foreground, this gorgeous landscape with sparkling water will transport you each day, and never go out of style.
This was one idyllic stop on our White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad Tour, an option included in our Princess Cruises land-and-sea journey in September 2015.
Bennett, British Columbia, at an elevation of 2,785 feet, is where thirty thousand stampeders spent the winter of 1898-1899, building makeshift rafts and boats to take them across Lake Bennett and down the Yukon River to the goldfields. Try to imagine that as you view this calm and peaceful scene with no people in sight.
One of several similar uncropped images shot at Lake Bennett that would work beautifully alone or together. You will find them all in my Alaska Cruisetour and Canada galleries.
