Lucky 4th Generation - Monarch

Description
Photographic artwork by Cindy Treger. Photographed near Lake Meade, East Berlin, PA. This photo was taken on October 7th, so this monarch is of the 4th generation, which means it will be fueling up to make the 2,000 mile journey to the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in the Sierra Madres in Mexico. Being of the 4th generation also means that it will live for six to eight months, the first three generations in the summer only live for four to five weeks. So I would say that it is lucky to be of the 4th generation. I never got a look at the top side of its wings to see if it was a male or female. It could possibly be the monarch that I photographed emerging from its chrysalis. It was feeding on a white butterfly bush.
