Description
Louis Charles Joseph Blériot was a pioneer French aviator who invented the first practical headlamp for cars and developed the world’s first successful monoplane with help from Gabriel Voisin. On July 25, 1909 in a Blériot XI, he made the first successful crossing of the English Channel. He later operated several well-known aircraft companies, including the Société Pour l'Aviation et ses Dérivés (SPAD) that built World War I fighter aircraft.
