Longneck Beauties

Description
We trekked for miles, waded a river three times and followed it through a mountain to reach this Longneck Karen tribe that had set up a camp in the jungle of Thailand. They had recently fled the brutal oppression of the military regime in Burma. It is remarkable how people maintain their dignity, even in the face of losing their homeland.

Steve, this must have been an incredible travel experience! Interesting shots of the women, this is similar to the African Benin tribe, which uses the same type of body ornamentation. Of course, the necks don't become elongated, but rather the shoulders are eventually pushed down. Loved your Thailand Gallery, since I've never traveled there, and voted for all of the images. Great work! Cheri
