Lóng (pronounced ‘lo-ung’) is the Chinese word for ‘dragon’.
Dragons in Chinese culture symbolise good luck, great power and immense strength. Different colour dragons symbolises potent and auspicious powers with one particular attribute dominant over the other attributes but all possessing the same attributes particularly controlling powers over water, rainfall, floods and typhoons. Emperors were assumed to have descended from the dragons with the red dragon being the most favoured for its symbolisation of good luck and fortune.
