Painting - Watercolor On Paper
I genuinely had a great time painting this piece and a lot of the fun came from adding the chain link fence into the background. It actually took quite a bit of thinking in order to come up with a somewhat realistic-looking fence. Plus, it was nice to get a little metal into the image since I haven't painted any metal for quite a long period of time. This piece is also interesting because I think it gives a lot of insight into what parts of a composition I tend to prioritize. For example, I could have subdued the stem a bit and brought it more to the rear of the piece but the glow of the light really made me leave it where it sits now. The original painting is 9.75"x13.75" in size and is painted with a combination of Daniel Smith and Rublev watercolor paints on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper.
