Color photograph of a hillside in the inner blast zone of Mount St. Helens in 2012. A few small volunteers have managed to sprout through some of the crevices, doing their best to survive and beautify this rugged terrain. A rather abstract picture of courage, persistence, fortitude, resilience, resolve, and thus symbolic of hope. Life is indeed hard.
