Lantern At Sensoji Temple Tokyo Japan Painterly
Photograph - Photography And Digital Art
At Sensoji, the oldest Buddhist temple in Asakusa, Tokyo Japan, there are several gates. The inner gate is named Hozo-mon gate, and the temple treasures are stored on the upper floor. The Hozo-mon gate features three large lanterns. The two on each side of the central lantern are 2.75 meter tall copper toro lanterns weighing approximately 1000 kg each! The present Hozo-mon gate dates from only 1964 since the previous one was destroyed during air raids during World War II.
