Description
The Thoth King's float parades down Magazine Street on the Sunday before Mardi Gras Day in New Orleans. He is dressed in courtly fashion and wears a crown. Pages and a Duke ride with him. The crowd cheers and wants to catch beads, doubloons, or other throws from the float. Every year a new king is crowned. You might notice that nobody is dressed in costume. Generally, people save the costumes for the BIG day--Mardi Gras Day on the Tuesday before Lent starts.
