Description
The Turkey River runs under the double arched Keystone Bridge after flowing over the dam in Elkader, Iowa. This stone bridge is the "longest, double arch, stone bridge west of the Mississippi" at 246 feet long (as posted on their information sign). In 1889 the stone was quarried north of the bridge, and hauled in on wagons. The Keystone Arch Bridge was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 7, 1976. Other images of this beautiful stone bridge can be seen in my gallery, which gives additional history and construction details.
This would make an amazing puzzle, mug, or greeting card, in addition to wall art. Please visit lindabrittain.pixels.com for many other gift and home decor suggestions.
