Description
A quaint cobblestone street is lined with traditional wooden houses, some featuring colorful front doors. Dappled sunlight filters through the leafy canopy of trees, adding a serene ambiance to the scene as a pedestrian walks along the sidewalk.
"The John Langley House is a two-story building with a gable roof and an interior central chimney. With a build date c.1807, it is typical of many Newport houses constructed between 1730-40 and 1815. This is the only house that the Newport Restoration Foundation (NRF) ever moved twice. The house was purchased by NRF in 1969 and restored in 1970 and again in 1977." My husband and I were down in Newport Rhode Island for the boat show. Before we could enter the show, we explored a few historical side streets in the area. This is Church Street with the John Langley house first and the Cotton House second. I find it amazing that the John Langley house was going to be demolished, but it was moved twice and now sits comfortably on Church Street. To see a complete description, please visit Newport Restoration at https://buildingsofnewengland.com/tag/newport-restoration/. They tell the story of the Langley House and the Cotton House much better than I ever could!
