Japanese Snow Monkey Mom And Baby
Photograph - Photography And Digital Art
A highlight of any photo adventure in Japan is a visit to the Jigokudani Yaen-Koen, the famous Snow Monkey Park in Nagano prefecture. We were lucky to have arrived for our visit the same time some cold weather and snow arrived in the area, assuring that the monkeys would be visiting the hot sprints to take refuge from the cold. The park is in an area of natural hot springs and one man-made pool in the park is a favorite of the monkeys (Japanese Macaques). Because the monkeys live in large social groups, you have the opportunity to view the varied and ever-changing interactions among the group members. It was always a treat when the baby monkeys slowed down enough to catch a photo of them with their (presumably) moms.
