Description
Ina'fa'maolek in the Chamorro language means to make things better for everyone. It was an essential component of ancient Chamorro society, where actions were not centered on hyper-individuality but ensuring we were uplifting and supporting one another for the common good. As Chamorro culture was originally matriarchal, it's important to highlight that women didn't suffer as much marginalization as they did under Spanish colonization and beyond. Chamorro women have been disempowered for centuries, but our resilience shines through. It's time to return to ina'fa'maolek and ensuring women are empowered, safe, and supported by their communities.
